about me
What if about pages were totally honest…
Yes My name is Laura Jean Pulscher and I am a self-centered mother from the Midwest who spends too much time on her iPhone and gets frustrated too quickly. I used to love leading worship at our church River Community Church of Dell Rapids, SD, but even in that I all too often I sought man’s approval instead of God‘s approval through my performance. I have studied the Bible my entire lifetime, yet I am still grasping the idea that my pitiful efforts cannot earn God’s approval. By God’s grace I don’t get what I deserve. Instead, my devoted and faithful husband and kids love me and my every need through my life with and without disease has been provided. By Jesus’ perfect life and ransom death, I have everything needed for life and godliness. And on top of that, I am counted as royalty and valued as a child by the creator of the universe. I hold my head high as I have great worth and purpose.
I grew up in Maryland, in love with the outdoors and Sycamore trees, stray animals and books, singing and songwriting. I went to the high school Barker College near my grandmother in Australia and I attended college at Baylor University and Wheaton College, graduating from the latter with a degree in computer science that I truly did not deserve. However, it enabled me to work in tech-support at the Argus Leader newspaper in Sioux Falls, SD, after spending five years working with horses at Honeyrock camp and sailing from the Chesapeake Bay to Panama with my father.
I have been spoiled rotten. Obviously, my life has not been without hardship -with the diagnosis of ALS in February of 2016 - but it also has not been all woes either. My inner me is being renewed day by day and I am learning the difficult discipline of rejoicing in Jesus always. Thank you for stopping by and sharing in my journey.

Feel free to go back to imagining a sugarcoated version of myself now.
